OCD

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a mental health condition characterized by obsessions (recurrent and intrusive thoughts, images, or impulses), and/or compulsions (repetitive behaviors or mental acts). These obsessions and compulsions are time-consuming and cause significant distress or impairment in daily functioning. Common obsessions include fears of contamination, doubts, thoughts of harming oneself or others, and a need for symmetry or order. Compulsions are often performed to alleviate anxiety or prevent a feared event, such as excessive hand washing, checking, counting, or arranging items in a specific way.

Hoarding

Hoarding–a subcategory of OCD–is characterized by persistent difficulty discarding or parting with possessions, regardless of their value. Individuals who hoard excessively accumulate an excessive number of items, leading to clutter and the overcrowding of living spaces. Hoarding behavior often stems from a perceived need to save and fears of throwing away something important or potentially useful.
