Colleen Baker-Orthwein, LCSW
SENIOR PSYCHOTHERAPIST, OWNER + DIRECTOR
Colleen is a therapist, supervisor, dog mom, cat mom and deep lover of all things NYC. She received her Master’s in Social Work at Columbia University School of Social Work and her undergraduate degree from Syracuse University where she studied psychology, communication and addiction. Colleen spent many formative years of her career with Monte Nido and Affiliates, where she held roles ranging from Recovery Coach to Primary Therapist and Lead Therapist within residential, partial hospital and intensive outpatient levels of care.
Colleen has a strong passion for recovery advocacy and has embodied this throughout her work with eating disorder non-profits and women’s organizations over the years. This has involved writing, speaking, organizing events and supervising a peer support volunteer program. In her clinical work, she encourages clients to find respect and appreciation for their natural body size and patience with themselves, while striving to meet each client exactly where they are in their process. She utilizes an honest, direct, but curious approach, finding that humor and a strengths-based perspective can help aid clients in developing effective communication, self-respect and a will to improve their lives.
